Hospice Care Consult
Dr. Beckett will take a full history and assess your pet’s medical/emotional needs. He will discuss your goals for the time your pet has left and get to know your family’s beliefs and expectations around end of life care.
After a full assessment of your pet’s current needs and discussion of his or her probable future needs, Dr. Beckett will develop a hospice plan tailored to your pet. This may include prescribing medications that you will be able to obtain from your local pharmacy, recommending environmental accommodations that may help your pet such as ways to increase traction on slippery floors, ways to encourage eating, ways to support your pet’s mobility, and more.
This type of appointment includes email follow up to answer any additional question or address new needs for 30 days following consultation.
Service Fee- $450
Telehealth Follow Up Consult
This type of appointment is intended to address existing problems when it has been longer than 30 days since the last in-home visit but an in person exam is not needed, such as needs for medication refills, dosage adjustments, or other changes to the established hospice plan.
Dr. Beckett will discuss any changes in your pets symptoms and modify the hospice plan accordingly.
New problems and issues that cannot be fully addressed over the phone may require an in-home visit. In that case, this service fee will be applied to the cost of your pet’s In-Home Follow Up Consult.
Service Fee- $150
In-Home Follow Up Consult
This type of appointment lasts 1-2 hours. It is similar to an initial Hospice appointment but because a full history has already been taken and hospice plan is in place it is usually much shorter in time. Dr. Beckett will re-examine your pet to assess any changes to their condition and discuss any observations you have regarding their symptoms and quality of life. Your pet’s Hospice plan will be modified accordingly and any changes or additions to their medications will be sent to your preferred pharmacy.
This type of appointment is intended to address your pet’s needs when it has been more than 30 days since the initial Hospice appointment or if an issue arises within those 30 days that can’t be handled by email communication.
Like your pet’s initial Hospice appointment, this type of appointment also includes email follow up to answer any additional question or address new needs for 30 days from the date of the visit.
Service Fee- $350
In-Home Euthanasia
Euthanasia appointments usually take 30-60 minutes but if you need more time you will not be rushed. Dr. Beckett will give your pet medication to help them drift off to a peaceful sleep. Once your pet is resting comfortably, and when you are ready, Dr. Beckett will administer the euthanasia solution. If you have elected to bury your pet at home, Dr. Beckett will take his leave at this time. If your pet is to be cremated, you are encouraged to take as much private time as you need before Dr. Beckett moves your pet to his vehicle for transportation.
Information on pet loss and grief support will be provided. Memorial keepsakes such as a lock of fur or ink pawprint or clay paw impression are included in this service.
Service Fee- $425 (Additional $75 outside normal business hours)
Please note, a cancelation fee of $100 will be assessed if you choose to cancel your appointment within 4 hours of the scheduled time, unless your pet passes naturally within that time. In the event your pet passes away naturally, please contact Dr. Beckett by phone or text. For pets that pass away on their own, Dr. Beckett can still assist with cremation services.
For information about options for after your pet has passed, please see the Aftercare Services page.
